The proportion of rural students in key universities decreased year by yea r is aneducational issue aroused great concern. How is the real educational state of ruralstudents? The research shows most rural students are dissociating the class and beingRecessive Drop Out. They are absent-minded,and romp in the class, even skip classes. There exist individual differences, while these phenomena are common among students.Recessive Drop Out is alienation in education which profoundly affects the educationquality in rural areas.Recessive Drop Out originated from consciousness, and the increasing financialinput can not solve the problem. The positivism culture expedited by industrializationhas changed the traditional concepts on education of parents in rural areas, reduced theirexpectation for education, and on the other hand, children are anxious to achieve quicksuccess and get instant benefits. The mainstream culture of school is constructed byupper class and middle class, which is conflicted with rural students. The positivismculture acts as an outside force, while the mainstream culture of school acts as an insideforce, and they jointly cause Recessive Drop Out.Education in rural areas has its own hierarchy, and Recessive Drop Out is tip of theiceberg. The problem rooted in the effects by positivism culture and the mainstreamculture of school. New hierarchy in education is being appealed to solve the problem.
