‘Cultivating the students’ social responsibility’ is one of the important content ofquality education mentioned in the eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Partyof China and The national medium and long-term plan for education reform anddevelopment2010-2020. To strengthen college students’ social responsibility research is ofgreat theoretical value and practical significance.We define the university student society sense of responsibility as ‘a kind of action ofresponsibility based on the mental activity’ from the perspective of the externalperformance and the formation process. And then we discuss the formation mechanism andof college students’ social responsibility with the view of the key links and the mainparticipants of ‘forming the action of responsibility’. Thirdly, we expound thecharacteristics including practical, altruism, dynamic, demonstration, plasticity,self-conscious and so on. Finally, we divide College students’ social responsibility with thedivision standard of ‘the binding for forming action of responsibility’ into two types:task-based responsibility and the relational responsibility.We use a combination of literature method, descriptive method, multidisciplinary crossanalysis, Delphi method, questionnaire survey method to build the college students’ socialresponsibility scale. Using SPSS17.0statistical software for survey data descriptivestatistics, item analysis, validity test, reliability test, independent sample t-test, analysis ofvariance analysis, etc. At the same time, referencing the results of the analysis ofbackground investigation to measure and evaluate college students’ social responsibilitylevel and characteristics comprehensively and actually.Based on analysis results of the college students’ social responsibility scale and thebackground problem investigation results, we put forward an education countermeasure toimprove college students’ social responsibility, including continuously strengthening thecognition of social responsibility, actively developing education practice, effectivelyplaying the role of main position of responsibility education in the university, giving moreattention model demonstration effect and the weak links of responsibility education ofcolleges and universities.
