Quality is the lifeline of universities. The quality of higher education cannot do without the course teaching, while the course teaching quality cannot do without the curriculum assessment. Physical education curriculum evaluation is the most direct, the most fundamental and effective method to promote the implementation of school physical education goal. Track and field course is a basic course for physical education curriculum, is an important part of physical education curriculum in sports colleges and universities, curriculum assessment plays a key role in improving the teaching quality and curriculum reform. Through the course of track and field evaluation, and make a comprehensive value analysis and judgment of teaching activities in the course of track and field, then through feedback to improve the teaching quality of track and field, can also provide reference for other courses.In this study, according to the present situation of teaching the course of track and field sports colleges in China, combining with the actual situation of track and field course evaluation, through using the method of literature, expert interviews, questionnaire survey, AHP and mathematical statistics, aftere researching the evaluation index system of track and field course in 6 sports colleges and universities, and it is concluded that:1.The definition of curriculum evaluation are clearly defined, and it is concluded that the course of track and field evaluated by 6 dimensions:the course construction, the teaching staff, the teaching conditions, the teaching process,the teaching management, the teaching effect.2. The 6 dimension is composed of 16 two level indexes, including: the course orientation, the course design, the structure of teachers, the training of teachers, the teachers’ professional level, the teaching materials, the venues, the equipment, the teaching preparation, the teaching contents, the teaching methods and means, the teaching achievement evaluation, the teaching system management, the teaching steps management, the expert evaluation, the student evaluation.3. Based on the study on the two level indexes, the course of track and field includes 33 observation points:the course orientation(2), the course design(2), the structure of teachers(3), the training of teachers(2), the teachers’ professional level(3), the teaching materials(2), the venues(2), the equipment(2), the teaching preparation(3), the teaching contents(2), the teaching methods and means(2), the teaching achievement evaluation(3), the teaching system management (1), the teaching steps management(2), the expert evaluation (1), the student evaluation(1).
