With the development of globalization and the continuous invasion of western sport culture, the Chinese traditional sport is facing unprecedented challenges due to its own dislocation of heritage system. As the outstanding platform of dissemination of Chinese culture, Confucius Institute was established in Seoul, South Korea, in November 242004, the world’s first Confucius Institute, which contributed to opening up a new way for international spread of the Chinese traditional sport. However, due to the lack of experience, attention and other reasons, there are several phenomenon of slow propagation speed, poor communication and so on arising in the dissemination process.Via the methods of using literature data, questionnaire survey, on-the-spot investigation and interview, this paper will investigate the present status of Chinese traditional sport in the dissemination of Confucius Institute in South Korea, analyze the problems existing in its spread, and finally put forward countermeasures to solve the current problems, in order to offer for some new ideas for the better future of the spread of Chinese National Traditional Sport in the Confucius Institute in South Korea.Through the research, the main conclusions are drawn as follows:First, the Confucius Institute in South Korea seriously lacked specialized textbooks and voluntary teachers engaged in traditional sports. And also, Chinese voluntary teachers generally had low level of talent skills and Korean;Second, the main courses of the Confucius Institute in South Korea were mainly Chinese language teaching, supplemented with the cultural experiencing activities. Few teaching units could set up the cultural experiencing activities of Chinese traditional sport;Third, because of the teachers, teaching materials, venues and other reasons, the Confucius Institute in South Korea rarely held the cultural activities of Chinese national traditional sport;Fourth, the Headquarter of Confucius Institute in South Korea was lack of relevant regulations and supervision mechanism upon the cultural experiencing activities settings. The system was not well developed so that the operation mode needed to be optimized.Fifth, the spread of the Chinese traditional sport in Confucius Institute in South Korea didn’t show an obvious effect.In view of the conclusions of this paper, we offer several suggestions as follows:First, to increase the degree of attention, and strengthen the intensity of support;Second, to improve the volunteer recruitment standards, and optimize the system of pre-service training;Third, to standardize the curriculum, and compile the appropriate teaching materiasl;Fourth, to put forward the content of communication clearly, and pay equal attention upon language and culture;Fifth, to learn from advanced experience, and improve the communication efficiently.
