In order to get a thorough knowledge to the current situation of the countryside middle and primary schools in Henan Province to promote traditional ethnic physical education, regarding the middle and primary schools of Henan Province, which are mainly in countryside, as the research object, and adopting the research methods such as documents and materials, questionnaire investigation, logical analysis etc., we have carried out a wide investigation to physical education, especial traditional ethnic physical education, from two respects of teachers and students. The investigation results reveal that the degree of attention to the programs of traditional ethnic physical education of every school is far less than to the programs of other physical education and the current situation fail to meet student's actual need to traditional ethnic physical education. The investigation results have been analyzed. After analyzing its historical and social causes, we attach importance to analyze the present developmental condition, about which we point out that it is the concrete practice of "passing down the national culture, carrying forward the national spirit" and "constructing the harmonious society" advocated on nowadays to greatly promote traditional ethnic physical education. Suggestions in view of the above are proposed: 1) make full use of social resources Wushu, a regional advantage, 2) integration of martial arts festivals and competitions resources, and promote the development of the project characteristics; 3) To confirm its position anew i.e. to bring it under the teaching system as a formal and essential course, as well as to guarantee the number of classes; 4)To break through from the keystone programs i.e. to hold onto the main characteristic programs so as to establish the core of teaching system; 5)To strengthen teachers' building in order to offer the essential guarantee of normal teaching; 6)The educational administrative department should strengthen macro adjustments and controls to promote the development of traditional ethnic physical education with policy.
