Chinese martial arts have a long history and are profound. As an important part of national culture, Chinese martial arts are historic and modern. In the communication of world cultures, Chinese martial arts are the ambassador of Chinese culture and have an irreplaceable role. The international spread of martial arts is the international spread of Chinese culture.Confucius Institute is established by Hanban. Hanban learn experiences from the other similar agencies of foreigner countries which devoted to promote their national language. Basing on the experience, Hanban establishes the non-profit Confucius Institute overseas to teach Chinese language and disseminate Chinese culture. The dissemination and promotion of martial arts in Confucius Institutes to the world has achieved good response. However, a few Confucius Institutes in some countries and regions have set up Wushu martial arts-based curriculum, mainly in Taolu teaching, but rarely Sanda teaching, which is a more confrontational practice and has practical value. Based on this, the study investigate the promotion of Sanda teaching in Confucius Institutes through literature, science questionnaire survey, expert interviews, mathematical statistics and logical analysis.The study found that, although the establishment of Confucius Institutes around the world provides a good platform for the development of the Chinese martial arts abroad, there is only the Confucius Institutes in Bergen setting up Sanda teaching through the survey which studied the promotion of the martial arts worldwide in Confucius Institutes. Besides, there are several factors affecting the promotion of Sanda in the Confucius Institute. Bergen Confucius Institute is one of the institutes who started Sanda teaching earlier and is representative in martial art teaching. Through the investigation of its situation of Sanda Teaching we found that students in the Bergen Confucius Institute taking Sanda course have poor cognition, active participation, but there are not enough teachers of Sanda; facilities and curriculum setting-up are not perfect; the poor curriculum and evaluation system should be improved.To promote the Martial Arts teaching in the Confucius Institute in the world, it should increase the propaganda,and it should establish Sanda curriculum system with local characteristics, will incorporate Sanda courses into the educational system, and finally establish promote ways which comply with the characteristic of the local Confucius Institutes.
