College counselors have come to become the main force of the college who should be responsible for ideological and political education of the students. The content of their duties can simply be defined, but the specific content of the work often can not be accurately described.The private college is an important part of China’s higher education system. The role of counselor is far more than the content itself of their duties. They not only have the duty of education, but also play the role of management, even have the obligation of service. Whether the students are satisfied with the college or not largely depends on the working ways and methods of the counselors, and the working effects of the counselors.Over the years, the performance management system of the counselors in every college has been constantly developed and improved, which plays an important role in the stability of the contingent of the counselors, as well as the working effects of the counselors. The college has paid more and more attention to how to develop the suitable performance management system, how to make the counselors work happily and effectively, and how to develop their motivation and creativity. Compared with the counselors of public universities, the counselors of private colleges have their special identities. For this reason, the construction of the counselors’ performance system of private colleges is still a problem which is worthy of being studied in the management system of the colleges.This thesis focuses on the construction and implementation of the counselors’ performance system in private colleges under the professional background. In the research background and research significance of the first chapter, it mainly clarifies the importance of study of counselors’ performance management system, summarizes the research status about counselors’ performance management at home and abroad, and proposes the research ideas and methods of this thesis. In the second chapter, it cites the theory of performance management which provides the theoretical basis for the later writing. In the third chapter, it mainly analyzes the current situation and attribution of the counselors’ performance management of private colleges.In the fourth chapter, taking Chongqing Institute of Engineering as an example, it constructs the performance management system based on the key index evaluation method by concrete analysis. In the fifth chapter, it makes a conclusion, and hopes to provide a reference for the construction and implementation of the counselors’ performance management system of private colleges.
