A Study On The Professionalization Of College Counselors Based On The Survey Of The Counselors Of The Five Colleges In Shangqiu

With the change of internal and external situation,the ideological education of college students seems to be increasingly important,and the employment of more counselors has been included in the agenda by colleges and relevant functional departments.The 16th document,issued by Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in August,2004,ushered in a period of surging development of counselors building.From 2008 on,every year saw the national forum of counselors'job organized by the Ideological Department of Ministry of Education.May of 2013 witnessed three events which are important for college counselors.The first is President Xi Jinping's interview,talk and photographing with the representatives of "The Annual Influential Figures of National College Counselors of the Fifth Session" in Youth Day(May 4);The second is The Training Plan of College Counselors(2012--2013)promulgated by Ministry of Education which arranges the training plan;The third is First National Conference of College Counselors' Job held by Ministry of Education in Shanghai during which leaders Ministry of Education emphasize that according to the requirements of the 16th document we should accelerate the speed of counselors building and try to improve their standards so as to safeguard the ideological education of college students.The review of these conferences and policies after the promulgation of the sixth document reveals the necessity and urgency of college counselors' building.However,at present,the process of college counselors' building brings us many problems and inadequacies which are as follows:the instability and talents' outflow of counselors,their lack of professional spirit and ability,and the lack of theory guidance and of system.The study shows that to solve these aforementioned problems counselors' professionalization is imperative.This paper,titled "A Study on the Professionalization of College Counselors",falls into six parts which include introduction,the four parts of the main body of the paper,and conclusion.In the first part of the paper,the mention of the history of counselors' system in our country ushers in the study of college counselors' professionalization,the subject matter of the paper;and the first part then introduces the background,content,methods,significance of the study.The second part of the paper is the Research status of the subject,the main content of the first summed up the predecessors' research,then summarizes the shortcomings of previous study,which lay foundation for the theory and standard of their professionalization.The third part of this paper mentions the theory and standard of this professionalization.The fourth part of the paper discusses the problems and inadequacies in the process of college counselors' professionalization based on the analysis of the survey of counselors' professionalization of the five colleges in Shangqiu.The fifth part of the paper explores the strategies and measures for this professionalization with regard to these problems from the perspective of human resources management.The last part of the paper summarizes the key points and inadequacies of the study,and proposes that we should examine and understand correctly the meaning of this professionalization and that we should tackle the difficulties and setbacks in a dialectical way,have confidence and make progress bravely.The authors hope that through this paper writing,be able to indicate the direction for the construction of college counselor team in our country and give all help,in order to speed up the process of our college counselor professional speed.
