The English Curriculum Standards(2011) set the second-level goal for the high-graders in the primary school: Ss have the continuous interest in studying English. They can understand and tell the simple stories with the help of the pictures. So the main task in the period of primary school is to cultivate the students’ reading interests and master basic English reading strategies and to consolidate the base of reading faster and better. It requires that students can get the ability to use English and the good habits of studying English.But nowadays, the mode of the English reading teaching that teachers say and students listen can be seen everywhere. Pupils are not interested in reading.They can’t fall in love with it. In their opinion, reading is just the reading comprehension exercise which should be taught how to analyze and students cannot dominate the reading course. So the writer made a one-term-long experiment about the learning-guided plans to observe whether it can improve pupils’ autonomy English reading ability. Then through the data and lessons from it, the writer can provide the true and first-hand information to clarify the direction of reading teaching.The experiment based on the theories of Constructivism and the Zone of Proximal Development. Through showing the students how to use the learning-guided plans, they can master the basic autonomy reading skills and improve the reading ability. They can set the reading goals by themselves and the results of reading. After the experiment, the writer questionnaire surveyed,interviewed and tested the students and teachers. From the results of it, we can clearly see that students not only improved their ability in reading also the attitude toward reading got better. It consolidated the base of the following English reading study course and made the direction more clear.
