With the rapid development of society, English is becoming a global official language and is widely used in the whole world. Nowadays, English learning is listed as the necessary learning content for learners in the current social environments. However, English reading is one of the foundations of mastering the four basic skills, which ranks the first skill for learners for necessity. Therefore, English teaching is aimed at improving the English reading ability. With the tide of promoting the new teaching goal and new curriculum reform, traditional and old-fashioned teaching methods have failed to satisfy the current basis teaching requirement, which can not arouse the positive, initiative and active creativity. What’s more, it can’t inspire students’ learning interest, either. The new curriculum reform demands that it should pursue the students’ individual development in the whole process of teaching,cultivating students’ subjective initiative so as to satisfy the needs of students so much that it can improve the high efficient class and surroundings.Teachers should use the innovation ideas to create new class environment to stimulate the interest of learners, fully provide the intelligent space, and mobilize the students’ enthusiasm, foster to grasp the application of knowledge ability. It can make every student develop their own personality so that their abilities can reach the higher layers. Guided learning plan is appropriate for students’ demand which can let the students’ study and development in an interesting, encouraging and creative environment.Guided learning plan is a teaching mode where teachers could make full use of guided learning plan to improve the English reading ability; it also cultivates students’ active digestion of knowledge. According to the present situation in the English reading teaching, the author carried out the guided learning plan teaching in the Senior High School, the main and core goals ofwhich are to train students’ ability of independent reading, achieving the real aim at autonomous learning. Guided learning plan is put forward in the senior high school in English reading class in order that they could make up for the shortage and fill in the blanks of English reading teaching, which can reach the active development and exploration in teaching and education field.The research subjects of the thesis are the 99 students of NO.2 Middle School in Xi Meng. In the experiment class, the author applied the guided learning plan teaching in class 7 for five months in one term. Meanwhile, the author still made use of the conventional teaching methods in the control class of class 11. The main purpose of the research is aimed at seeking the exploration whether the guided learning plan teaching method can improve the senior high school students’ English reading ability to achieve the best results effectively or not.In the process of research, the author carried out two tests and one survey with questionnaires, which shows the several data graph analysis and SPSS data to get the benefit from using guide learning plan. It is obvious that the students’ English reading ability and learning initiative in experiment class are clearly higher than the class that didn’t use guided learning plan teaching method. Therefore, guided learning plan that is applied in teaching field can improve the English reading comprehension ability in senior high schools effectually.
