With the advance and development of the reform in competence-oriented education, experiential teaching has attracted more and more attention. In a new round of curriculum reform in Shanghai and around China, inquiry learning and experiential learning are specially advocated. Based on the theoretical analysis,the author of this thesis is to research the approaches carried out in experiential teaching, which meanwhile combines her own practice in the high school mathematics teaching.The thesis traces the development of experiential teaching approach and expounds the definitions of experience, experiential teaching along with its theoretical basis in the literature review. Besides, it compares the results of the practices and research in experiential teaching home and abroad and analyzes the importance of such a teaching approach in high school mathematics teaching practice.The author cites some classroom teaching examples in high school mathematics experiential teaching so as to present her thoughts in the teaching practice. Meanwhile she reflects upon the problems she’s come across in practice and concludes some notes in experiential teaching.The author combines her teaching practice and presents the following aspects: create situations in class, use multimedia technology, introduce the history of mathematics, arrange classroom activities, design the mathematics experiments, provide lectures in mathematics, organize social practice, and encourage students to write their mathematics essays. At the end, she summarizes the existing problems in the research of experiential teaching and predicts its future development.
