| As one of basic subjects in elementary education, English teaching is aimed at implementation of students’ development. Primary English education should be presented in an atmosphere of humanistic caring and be reformed in accordance with language acquisition characteristics as well as competency development rule of students. However, cultural value of English is achieved via English teaching. In the English teaching process, our teachers should not only go beyond textbooks, but also should fully comprehend and selectively absorb the cultural value of English language so as to realize students’ development. To achieve the goal of cultural value, it is necessary to make a major breakthrough during teaching process, namely, to break the knowledge-centered instructional mode based on an innovative teaching concept. Thematic instruction has become the new tendency of domestic English education study in recent years. The thematic teaching emphasizes integrity, extensibility as well as instrumentality of communication; meanwhile it also stresses humanistic characteristics of language: teachers and students should put all their energy into classroom activities to actualize the educational value of English course.Through excavating the cultural quintessence of English language and the positive humanistic factors that are beneficial to interpersonal relationship development of elementary student, with English language value orientation as theoretical framework, interpersonal relationship as research object, and primary-school English instruction as a carrier; this study is designed to promote students’ English language acquisition, to set up correct viewpoint of value, to cultivate students’ humanistic qualities of equality, respect and love, as well as to facilitate the formation of good interpersonal relationship.This thesis are composed of five parts. Introduction as the first part comes up with the questions to be studied, some related concepts involving cultural value, interpersonal relationship, as well as thematic teaching, are defined, theoretical and practical research on thematic teaching are critically reviewed. The second part mainly analyzes the three features of interpersonal relationship- equality, respect and love in English culture through comparison of Chinese and Western culture characteristics. The third chapter analyzes the features of interpersonal relationship thematic teaching from four aspects, namely, directionality of teaching goal facing to interpersonal communication, context of teaching content reflecting real life, diversity of teaching resource, as well as exemplary of saying and doing of teachers in classroom teaching. The fourth chapter gives an analysis of existent questions and reasons in interpersonal relationship thematic teaching by integrating a number of teaching plans, lesson examples, and interview surveys. In the fifth part, the author puts forward instructional design related to interpersonal relationship thematic teaching with two internal clues of cultural value and emotional experience, and carries it out through, to achieve the development of English education and students. |
