The spacial ability is one of the essential abilities of study geography,and the construction of the concept of geographic spacial influences the cultivation and development of students’ geographic space ability. It is based on the concept of geographic space when middle school students study geography knowledge and solve geography problems. But the domestic and foreign situation in the view of the construction of the concept of geographic space is just passable. The construction of the concept of the students’ geographic space is ignored by the teacher when teaching and the Situation of the construction of the concept of the geographic space of students is worrying. As the second language of geography, map is of vital importance to construct middle school students’ geographic space concept. So it has important theoretical and practical significance to study the effect of map in the construction of middle school students’ concept of geographic space and analysis and discuss the application of map teaching strategy in the process of geographic space concept construction.Firstly, the definition of map and geographic space is introduced, at the same time,the elements of the concept of geographic space were defined by combining subject features and relevant materials. Based on this, compiling papers of the concept of geographic space, at the same time, it concludes the map application strategy of the construction of geographic space concept and a map teaching strategy is proposed for the use of the plan in the education experiment. According to the results of the previous experiment, the experimental class and the contrast class were chosen. Experiment class uses map teaching strategy for teaching,the general teaching method of the contrast class is adopted. After a period of time of different teaching strategies, carry out the post test and analyze the results. Finally,according to the experimental results analysis, the observation of students and the use of teaching strategies in teaching experiments the map teaching strategy is designed from three aspects of the concept of geographic space, and put forward the corresponding teaching suggestion.During the experiment, the difference between the former and the post test results is significant, and the post results are better than the former results, that proved the map can improve the students’ geography results obviously. It is also proved that the map plays an active role in the construction of middle school students’ geographic space. It can be summarized from the teaching experiment, when use map to help students build the concept of geographic space in the process of teaching strategies, it is necessary to understand the characteristics and methods of using maps, pay attention to the visualization of the concept of geographic space and design teaching strategy from the practical life of the students. The map teaching strategy proposed in the paper provides reference for teachers in a certain sense. It provides a reference for students to learn and sum up the method.
