With the development of domestic economy and technology,our society requires cultivating different talents in different fields.Geography,as other subjects,also needs more talents equipped with the ability of innovation and practice.As we all know,geography is a discipline that needs application of abundant maps and charts in to describe the structure of geography,the correlation of layout and the change of development.Since the actual geographical entities are wide and huge,many geographers make charts and maps that related to actual geography based on indeed investigation.Moreover,“map”,the so called “geographic second language”,as a practice tool,becoming our one of significant methods to learning the basic geographic knowledge.Therefore,in the process of teaching and learning geography,we need to focus on how to extract related geographic information from geographic charts and maps.The method we need to find out above is the keyword of teaching for teachers and the main way of learning for students.The domestic geography courses in middle school aimed at teaching basic knowledge,which is significant to students.Hence,the lesson reform in geography course follows the progress of our teaching practice and method,which helped raised better teaching quality and methods and emphasized the cultivation of the ability of middle school students about how to use geographic learning tools to obtain geographic information from geographic images.Based on such research background and purpose about the teaching of obtaining geographic information from maps and charts in geographic discipline,this paper makes relatively deep analysis and research on the subject that how to improve the abilities of middle school students about obtaining geographic information from geographic images,the following are the details.At first,the paper collected abundant related references after knowing the background of teaching methods related to current geographic discipline,and then decided on the main research plan that is “ask,analyze and solve problems”.Then,based on the past teaching experiences,the teaching practice of geography courses and combined the requirement of lesson reform,the paper analyzed how to help student extract correct information as required by using the method of inductive analysis and the experience summarization.At last,with summarizing the past geography course teaching experiences and using the experience summarization and the action research method,the author provides four strategies to cultivate middle school students' geographic information obtaining abilities: Firstly,combined with instructional psychology theory,this paper describes the approach to enhance students' geography basic knowledge based on intelligence factors,such as perception,memory,thought and imagination.Secondly,by analyzing many effective teaching practice cases,the author allocates students using different picture reading skills to resolve relative questions.Thirdly,to arouse students interests of learning geographic images,this paper considers three questions which are how to draw students' attentions,how to enhance mutual aid and cooperation and how to combine lesson contents with living practice.Finally,this paper discusses some effective and efficient teaching methods and skills in classroom for our geography teachers.This paper makes efforts to provide useful teaching practice strategies to enhance the relative teaching practice definitely.
