With China’s rapid advance in economy and increasing international standing, the world’s "Chinese Hot" is heating up in recent years. As a neighbor, South Korea is affected by Chinese characters and culture profoundly. South Korea’s ministry of education in 2005 formally put forward: the primary and secondary schools commonly open Chinese courses. The tendency of lowering ages of Chinese teaching is increasingly obvious in South Korea recently. Since the success of CPIK, more and more scholars pay attentions to the Chinese teaching in primary school in South Korea. As a member of CPIK, the author describes and analyzes the present situation of Chinese teaching in primary school. The development of it is prospective with the increasing number of courses and students, the growing region, and the better trained teachers. However, there are still some problems at present we cannot ignore in primary schools’ Chinese teaching in South Korea. We can draw a new teaching method which is suitable for updating the present situation of Chinese teaching by learning experience from English teaching methods in South Korea. Hope this thesis can make some contribution to Chinese teaching in South Korean primary schools.
