In response to the new curriculum reform in basic education, schools in some areas have carried out various activities to achieve highly efficient classroom teaching(HECT). Against this background, the middle and primary schools in Huangmei County have conducted a teaching reform by establishing a HECT model through “Four Learnings”. The model of HECT through “Four Learnings” is a student-oriented classroom teaching model performed in four styles of classroom learning activities:self-learning, mutual-learning, shared-learning, and supervised-learning. In the HECT model, teaching activities are organized according to students’ learning situation, which integrates into learning in a way friendly to both students and teachers. The local education administration plays a leading role in constructing and implementing the HECT model, with the experiment base schools taking the initiative to conduct innovative practice and all the schools concerned in the county acting in unison. As expected, all the students have benefited from it, all the teachers have improved, and all the schools have developed, which has won wide social recognition. The HECT model fully utilizes exemplary roles and advances the curriculum reform in basic education. Moreover, manifesting the essence and goal of the “Four Learnings”approach, the HECT model is significant in innovating theories and practice. It is demonstrated in the construction and implement of the HECT model that to advance educational and teaching reform in an area or a school, classroom teaching should be performed to serve ultimate objective of education. It is also very important for teachers to think independently, remain creative and constantly enhance theoretical preparation while learning from others for the sake of all students’ all-round development.
