From Individual Tragedy To Mass Disaster —A Study On The Formation Of Individual Antisocial Events

Since reform and opening up, China’s economic development has achieved remarkable results.However, At the same time of rapid economic growth, myriad social problems emerge in endlessly, social conflicts intensified.In recent years, various types of mass incidents and individual antisocial events happened.Compared with mass incidents, the destructive degree and social harm brought by individual antisocial events is even greater, individual antisocial events have become the focus of the society.Individual antisocial event is a crime that the individual suffers interests infringed or emotional harm, as to vent frustrations and resentment, implemented for non-specific, objective generalization, and even the whole society, which is extreme, cruel, causing serious social harm and bad the impact. By analyzing the 21 typical cases since 2001, we can find, the perpetrators mainly come from the bottom of the society. Their work is not stable, and life is hard.Such events often have a sudden, it is difficult to predict. Their behavior is primarily a cathartic and revenge, in order to vent their grievances and dissatisfaction. The target of perpetrator’s actions is no longer limited to a specific target, but has been generalized for a particular class of people or even the entire society. Thus, the occurrence of individual antisocial events is actually a process of disaster for the public evolved from an individual tragedy.The logical starting point for the formation of individual antisocial events is the individual tragedy:individual interests and emotions suffer a double harm. When harmed, people can take institutional means to fight for rights,but institutional means were often invalid. In this case, the way outside the system was the only option. However, it’s did not always work. "Make trouble",as a kind of common way of rights protection outside the system, was infeasible for the perpetrators of individual antisocial events. "Make trouble" was an ability to mobilize resources, but they apparently did not have this capability. When these individuals with personality disorder suffered long-term setbacks and injuries, and lacked adequate social support and care, their hope of life would gradually burst, vent and take revenge on society have become their common choice.When analyzing individual antisocial events, it is easy to be attributed to a variety of personal reasons. But in fact, social structural and cultural issues is the deep logic of individual antisocial behavior. From this perspective, because of social transformation, social stratification and stratum cured, lacking of social support, some groups have been permanently abandoned from the social structure. Our culture has a gene of "avenge",when the individuals are abandoned and hurt by society, taking revenge on society is not difficult to understand.
