In recent years,teachers as the main part of education is becoming the focus of society for it develop so fast and ask for more improvement of education. The requirement,assessment and standard for teachers are raised. The innovations of Vocational Education, Post Training and Teachers Education have been developing for the improvement of the education, but the result is not good. Besides,the group of teachers is growing, except for teachers teach in school, executive staffs in school are also called teachers, especially people with high qualifications in society are also called teachers. It let me wondering:what are teachers? Are all teachers the same in history? If not, what is the evolution of teachers?This study tries to combing the change of teachers in history, to make clear of the facts of teachers. Try to explain how teachers change from the initial state? What are the causes? How can the causes change during different periods, and what is the affects about teachers? By clarifying the reason,process and the inherent logic relation of the historical evolution of teachers, to make clear what is the teacher. Expect to provide some clues for the innovation of teachers.This study uses the literature analysis method and statistical method, starting from the existing concept of teacher, I collect 50 dictionaries,30 books,42 master’s and doctoral dissertations to get the concepts of the teacher. Then get the words which define the concept of the teacher. Clarify the words to get the categories. The categories are The Educated people, The Purpose of Education, The Content and Method of Education and so on. This study uses Historical Research Method to study the evolution of teacher in history and the influence by the change of categories in different social background in history.The first part of this study summarizes the concept,origin, appellation,role and profession of teachers. The second part is on this basis to combing the concepts of teachers to get the categories which define teachers in academic circles. They are The Educated People, The Purpose of Education, The Content and Method of Education.The third to the fifth part analyses the influences by the categories which define teachers. The third part studies Educated People and Teachers. The educated people experienced all the young gens, the privileged children, children of school age and to the trend of all citizens. To adapt to the change of educated people, teachers experienced the clan elders, the official teachers who are part time, the private school teachers who are full time, the formation of teacher occupation, the expectation of teacher’s professionalization. The forth part is about the purpose of education and teachers. The purpose of education can be divided into external purpose and internal purpose. During the history, when external purpose consistent with internal purpose, the function of education plays well. And the purpose of education is easier to implement. But when the two purpose are different, or even there are some contradictions, the effects of teachers’teaching is not obvious. The purpose of education is difficult to achieve.The fifth part is about the content of education and teachers. The education content experienced experience of production and life, classical books, some knowledge about simple reading and writing, and subject knowledge. The content is more and more deepen and refinement and is far from people’s daily life. Education method changes from singleness to plentiful and diversity. And to form a set of method system. With the development of pedagogy and psychology, education is becoming more scientific. From teach orally, to recite, to remember, to give a lecture, to practice, and to activities and experience today. During these changes, teachers experienced the roles like the breeder,the preacher, educator and "Jiao Shujiang"The sixth part is the consideration about the historical evolution about teachers.
