Research On The Meaning Construction Of Individual Leisure Activities

This study is a narrative study based on interviewing. It narrates the participators’career experience, describes the depth of their leisure activities and the factors affecting it, and clarifies the content and construction process of leisure meaning.The dissertation is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 is introduction, which describes the origin and background of this research, as well as the definition of the basic conception and literature review. Chapter 2 and 3 present two case studies which includes four parts:characters’ backgrounds and career profiles; leisure activities; meaning of their leisure activities; meaning construction strategy. Chapter 4 analyses the scope and course of leisure activities, the experience and understanding of leisure activities, learning and career growth in the leisure activities and the meaning construction of leisure activities. The last chapter is a conclusion, which focuses on the research findings, research reflection and advice for further research.
