In this paper, the research focused on interactive learning of adults in public space. We selected three typical areas where were the streets, residential committee office and activity room in a housing estate of Shanghai. This research lasted for almost one year.We collected fully first-hand materials by the method of Participant Observation and Interview. Through the research, we found that the residents interacted with different types of "others" in public space. According to the phenomenon of perception, transmission and participation, they enriched their knowledge of the world, cultivated their pro-social behavior and balanced their self development.The dissertation encompasses four chapters. Chapter one is introduction, which includes the research origin and literature review. Based on the research background, the basic conception of this paper has also been proposed. Chapter two and three are case analysis, which expresses the depth and breadth of interactive learning respectively. In the fourth chapter, the author sums up the conclusion of this research, focuses on the major characteristics of interactive learning in housing estate public space, and provides some inspiration for the people who are now living in an urban community.
