Knowledge comes from life, so chemistry is closely related to our daily life. Our life is full of chemistry knowledge, as a result, in chemistry teaching course we can lead students learn chemistry knowledge in life and employ chemistry knowledge to practice. “Teaching in life model” can make up the shortage of current teaching model, and inspire the students’ learning interest by various teaching activities, which will play an important role in accomplishing course objectives of New Curriculum Revolution.This paper investigated the feasibility of apply “Teaching in life model” in W High School, the teachers’ attitudes towards “Teaching in life model” and the usage, how the students’ master and use chemistry knowledge, and the students’ ability of using chemistry knowledge to solve problems in life. The investigation results are as followed: ①Teachers and students are concerned about phenomenon in daily life and the hot spot in society,which is beneficial to developing “Teaching in life model”. ②Teachers didn’t pay much attention to “Teaching in life model”, while students expect the teachers introduce life case in chemistry course. ③Teachers rarely apply “Teaching in life model”, and need to improve the ability to combine chemistry knowledge and real life. ④Students are not much interested in learning chemistry and can’t master chemistry knowledge well. Although they can solve some simple problems in life, their performances are not satisfying. According to these findings and the current teaching status, the author studied and applied “Teaching in life model” in high school chemistry class. First, according to the education theory of Dewey and Xingzhi Tao and Constructivist theory, the related concepts are defined. Second, the author designed the study’s method and content, putting forward the teaching-in-life method for “concept class” 、“nature class” and “experiment class”. At last, three teaching cases about “concept class” 、“nature class” and “experiment class” are summed up. In the trial stage, the author connected every chemistry knowledge chunk of Grade 1 of high school to the real life,then teach each class with “Teaching in life model”, and the classes and homework both closely related to real life, at the same time, some spare-time activities are well organized. After a term’s implement, the author got some findings according to her own experience and a questionnaire: ①The students’ interest in learning chemistry have been improved. ②Students get a better master and use of chemistry knowledge. ③The students’ ability to solve actual problems have been improved. This study aims at providing some useful guidance for the implement of “Teaching in life model” in high school.
