Study On The Employment Situation Of Port-performance Majors And Its Countermeasures In Higher Educational Institutions Of Jiangxi Province

The sport performance major is a new major born after 2000 and has been very hot recently. In the discipline classification directory, it belongs to art majors under the literary discipline, with most of them belonging to the physical education direction of the dance performance major and some belonging to physical education direction of the performance major. At present many colleges and universities offer sport performance major, including the main directions of martial art performance, aerobics, sports dancing, rhythmic gymnastics and dragon and lion dance etc.. In 2007,the sport performance major started in Jiangxi province and is available in four colleges/universities, all with the aerobics and sport dancing the main directions. This thesis investigates the employment situation and public responses of the graduates from these institutions after their entering the society and makes analysis of the results, so as to offer some constructive suggestions for the sport performance major development in higher educational institutions in Jiangxi and in China and to provide reform decision basis for national culture and show business management department.This thesis fully investigates the four colleges/universities of Jiangxi province and areas covered by their graduates. Based on theories of statistics and management and through the methods of literature study, expert interview, questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics, it researches the employment situation of graduates from Jiangxi Normal University, Gannan Normal University, Shang Rao Normal University and Yichun University by carrying out researches on the institutions, graduates,and market surveys. The results are analyzed and countermeasures are put forward about the major construction, market developing and graduate employment of the sport performance major. The conclusions are as follows: First, sport performance major started late in colleges and universities of Jiangxi Province, and is now in the initial stage of development; specialty construction in the stage of exploration; the job market in the initial stage; the quality of talent cultivation is not too high; the understanding of the market is not deep; talent cultivation does not match the public needs. The rate of job relating to profession is not high. Second, the majority employment is with enterprises, where the professional knowledge does not has its place. Third, despite the low employment rate, this major is still popular, with large number of applicants and high professional tuition. The school running cost is relatively low, and the school running efficiency is high. There is not close connection between the enrollment plan and the employment status. Fouth, the employment market for the sport performance major is neither mature nor standardized, and there is a great potential market remaining unexplored.Suggestion: First, the educational administration can make some regulation and control in the enrollment plan according to the employment situation. Second, the government cultural departments can regulate the market, and explore the market effectively according to the developing pace of the society and the people’s growing demands on spiritual and cultural life. Schools and graduates also can assist the government in the exploration of the sports performance market to enrich people’s cultural life. Third, schools can connect themselves to the market, by conducting market investigations and making the talent-cultivation plan in accordance with the market need.
