Strongly advocated by our government, secondary vocational education has been an indispensable and important component of the national education system. In recent years, the employment rate of secondary vocational school graduates has remained very high, but their employment quality is not high, which is caused by their lack of job selection cognition. While choosing jobs, secondary vocational school students often evaluate themselves wrongly and just drift with the current. On the basis of this present situation, secondary vocational schools should give timely and effective guidance to their students. However, the employment guidance work of secondary vocational schools in our country is not complete. Besides, the employment guidance work of a Wuxi secondary vocational school which the author works at is still at the beginning stage. It is clear that only by establishing an employment guidance system throughout the school life of secondary vocational school students can we help students form correct job selection tendency and fundamentally improve students’ employment quality. Therefore, combining with a Wuxi secondary vocational school which the author works at, the author will systematically study this subject of influencing factors upon job selection tendency of secondary vocational school students.This paper will study on the fresh graduates of a Wuxi secondary vocational school; do research by questionnaire, interview and comparative study; review the relative literature both at home and abroad. On this basis, the paper will discuss in depth influencing factors upon job selection tendency of secondary vocational school students and differences among different demographic variables and then this paper will put forward targeted suggestions. The author hopes this paper will help secondary vocational schools to carry out targeted and effective employment guidance work and improve students’ employment quality.The main body of the thesis consists of five parts:The first part is the introduction, the author mainly discusses the background, objectives and significance, thought and method of the study.The second part is the review and analysis of literature, the author mainly discusses the overseas research status of job selection, the domestic research status of job selection tendency and its influencing factors.The third part is the design and implementation of the questionnaire, based on the review and analysis of literature, the author does broad and deep interviews. By further screening and revision, the author finally designs the questionnaire of job selection tendency upon secondary vocational school students.The fourth part is the data statistics and analysis, the author analyze influencing factors according to their importance degree. In addition, the author also discusses differences of influencing factors among gender, department, native place, the single-child group and the multi-child group.The fifth part put forwards targeted suggestions from two aspects, secondary vocational school and secondary vocational school students themselves.
