Nowadays, with the rapid development of Vocational Education, secondary vocational education has become more and more important. However, due to the secular perspective of society, the recognition of secondary vocational school students is different from that of high school students.Vocational school students are always regarded as "the failures of the entrance examination",this kind of unfair evaluation and discriminatory recognition has penetrated into the cognitive bone marrow of society. At the same time, secondary vocational school students are faced with practical problems such as internship and employment,as well as complex workplace interpersonal relationships, earlier than students of the same age. Therefore, the following doubts arise, will secondary vocational school students affect their self-identity and interpersonal relationship, and then their self-esteem level, because of these discriminatory cognition? This paper explores the status quo of students’ self-esteem in secondary vocational schools and measures to improve it through two studies.Study 1 Used questionnaires to study 861 students in a secondary vocational school in Shanghai and 694 students in a high school in Shanghai.Three authoritative psychological scales were tested, and their overall level of self-esteem,self-identity and interpersonal communication were investigated and compared. The results show that there is no significant difference in the level of self-esteem between secondary vocational school students and senior high school students in group and gender, and there is significant difference in the level of self-esteem between secondary vocational school students and senior high school students in grade;there is no significant difference in the level of interpersonal relationship between secondary vocational school students and senior high school students in grade and gender, and there is close to significant difference in group, and the interaction between group and grade is significant. There are significant differences in students’ self-identity: the self-identity of secondary vocational school students is significantly lower than that of senior high school students;the self-identity of the first grade of secondary vocational group is significantly lower than that of senior high school group;the self-identity of the second grade of secondary vocational group is not significantly different from that of senior high school group;the self-identity of the first grade of secondary vocational group is significantly lower than that of senior high school group;the self-esteem of both secondary vocational school students and senior high school students is significantly lower than that of secondary vocational group. The interpersonal relationship was negatively correlated, and the self-esteem of secondary vocational school students and senior high school students was positively correlated with self-identity.Study 2 Screened 42 secondary vocational school students whose self-esteem score was below 32 points(including 32 points)according to the score of self-esteem.21 of them were intervened by Group Psychological Counseling and Group Sandplay Therapy.By comparing the pre-test,middle-test and post-test of 40 valid questionnaires collected from the experimental group and the control group(20 from the experimental group and 20 from the control group),we can see that Group Psychological Counseling and Group Sandplay Therapy have effectively improved the self-esteem level of the experimental group, effectively improved the self-identity of the experimental group, and effectively reduced the interpersonal confusion of the experimental group.Relationships play a part of mediating role in the influence of self-esteem level.Self-identity plays a completely mediating role in the influence of self-esteem level. These two factors are mediating variables affecting self-esteem level.
