"Based on the experiment" is the discipline characteristic and teaching characteristic of chemistry. Chemistry experiment is an important part of chemistry teaching materials, which is a good carrier of quality education and innovation education, which has an important function of students’ innovative ability, and which influences the student to develop their emotion, attitude and values. This paper chooses the experimental part of mainstream American textbook " Chemistry: conceptions and applications" 2009 version and our People’s Education Press textbook as the research object, to seek the similarities, differences and characteristics.This paper uses literature research method, text analysis, comparative study, empirical research on Sino-US chemistry textbook in a comparative study of the experimental section, mainly in the following four aspects:The first part is proposed about the problem. This paper is mainly affected by the weakening influence of experiment education in the new curriculum reform, in order to pay more attention to chemistry experiment in subsequent reform.The second part is the overall comparison of the experimental arrangement of the Sino-US chemistry textbook. In this part of the study, this paper firstly translated the experimental section of American textbook, summarized each type of experiment and its roles; and then analyzed the contents and characteristics of experiment, including the experiment quantity and distribution, the selection of experimental materials and equipment, laboratory safety education and so on; Finally, analyzed the two edition textbooks of typical common experiments and the respective characteristic experiments, to find out the differences of the two, to summarize the advantages and features of the US chemistry textbook, to learn the arrangement of experiment, the content of experiment, and the design of experiment, etc.The third part is the empirical study of comparing typical experiment on Sino-US chemistry textbook. In this part of the study, this paper chose the typical similar experiments of the Sino-US textbook, such as conservation of mass, flame tests, titration of vinegar, oxidation- reduction and electrochemical cells, tried the typical similar experiments according to their requirements and procedures, compared the experiment goal, experimental equipment and drug, experimental procedure, the analysis of the experiment, the experimental data processing and so on, experienced the differences of the experimental results and the experimental merits of the two textbooks, summarized the experimental content characteristics, summed up some experimental designs we could learn from.The fourth part is the conclusion and suggestions. According to results of comparative analysis in the second part on the experimental part of two textbooks and the third part of the results by doing the typical experiments, this paper provides some valuable suggestions of the high school chemistry textbook on experimental part, and optimizes chemical experiment teaching.
