The Characteristics Of The Traditional Values Coping Style Of Middle School Students: Comparative Study Of Tibetan And Chinese Two Nationalities

Traditional values mean Confucianism at the core; it is an ideology which fuses Mohism, Legalism, and Taoism, and so on, as social values it has a dominant position at the Chinese feudal society for thousands of years. Coping style is the adopted cognitive style and behavioral pattern when person faced the setback. It also called coping strategy or coping mechanism. This study has adopted the Traditional Values Quedtionnaire of Yang Guoshu and Coping Style Questionnaire of Xiao Jihua. The subjects were 700 adolescents. By using the method of questionnaire investigation, to analyze the relationship of adolescents’traditional values and coping style, and made a further analysis of comparative study between Tibeto-Han adolescents. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) Traditional values were highly accepted by contemporary adolescents, and the positive coping style was more widely used than the negative coping style by them.(2)The traditional vales of contemporary adolescents have significantly differences in two dimensions:gender, nationality; the coping styles of them have significantly differences in several dimensions, such as gender, whether single child or not, nationality.(3) Male students of the two national students have significantly differences in several dimensions of traditional values; countryside students of the two national students have significantly differences in several dimensions of traditional values; female students of the two national students have significantly differences in several dimensions of coping style; countryside students of the two national students have significantly differences in several dimensions of coping style.(4) Traditional values of contemporary middle school students can predict the coping style:unity can lightly predict problem solving; familism can predict self-accusation; humility can lightly predict avoidance。...
