Study habits refer to the students formed constant, stable learning behaviors and ways of thinking through repeated practice in the learning process of learning activities. The cultivation of study habits in school stage and even human life is extremely significant. Researches presented that primary school stage is the key period to cultivate the habit of learning. Pupils with good learning habits will show higher learning efficiency, stronger learning abilities and better character development. The alarming situation is shown on current study habits of township elementary students. To cultivate study habits of pupils is rather difficult in consideration of some complex factors in township. This study surveyed the typical primary school in Changsha County through questionnaires and supplemented with interviews. From the survey results, we can learn that township pupils generally have problems in previewing reviewing, extracurricular reading, learning resource management and autonomous learning. During the observations and communications with teachers and students in township, the study found that teachers and parents’ traditional education concept, the lack of education qualities and the special growth environment of township pupils are the main cause of this result. This study, considering the pupils’ characteristics, put forward suggestions and measures for township pupils’ cultivation of the study habits around parents, teachers and pupils based on the theory of pedagogy and psychology. And these measures have certain reference significance to the cultivation of pupils’ study habits of other township primary school.
