Nowadays the curriculum reform of elementary education which starts all over the country has received the widespread attention. Junior high school geography teaching under new curriculum requires to improving students’comprehensive quality from the three dimensions: the knowledge and skills, the processes and methods, the emotional attitudes and values. But during the current junior high school geography teaching process, teachers pay too much attention to imparting knowledge and neglect the cultivation of students’ skills and emotional attitudes. Role-playing teaching is one of the effective ways to solve the problem. It is an kind of teaching activities which makes students gradually master the method to analysis and solve geographical problems on the base of their experience and comprehension in the process of solving geographical problems. At the same time, the role-playing teaching plays a positive role to the cultivation of students’ innovative ability, and it has been introduced in classroom teaching by more and more educators.With the guidance of role theory in social psychology and the compulsory education curriculum standard and mainly using the literature material, questionnaire investigation, interview method, case analysis and other methods, the thesis discusses the use of role-playing in junior high school geography classroom teaching activities, hoping to have great reference value to the junior high school geography teaching practice.The thesis mainly from the following several aspects:First of all, based on searching literature, the research direction and content of the article was finally determined through the comparison of domestic and foreign critical reception.The second, through the investigation and the interview analyzing the present situation of role-playing teaching activities in the junior high school geography. The problems are discussed from two aspects of teachers and students. What’s more, the feasibility of the applying of role-playing teaching in the geography classroom is explored in this part.Then, based on the problems of existing in role-playing teaching practice in the junior high school geography, putting forward the strategies of improving the effectiveness of role-playing teaching.The last, the thesis is the analysis of the specific case where the role-playing teaching in junior high school geography is applied on the base of the practical teaching experience of the author. What’s more, hope to be more helpful to junior high school geography teaching.We take the role playing teaching as an example to discuss the new educating method in this paper. The educating experiment shows that the role playing method is a effective measure in junior high school geography classroom teaching activities. So role playing method not only be the same with the junior high school geography teaching activities but also offer valuable reference for other subjects teaching.
