In 1909, the department of geology has been set bybranch of Gezhi Science learningof the Imperial University of Peking, which declared the inchoation ofcarrying out special Geology Education by recruiting geological professional students.In 1913, Geological Institute has been established by Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Northern Warlords Government in Beijing, which laid the foundation stone of the normal geological talents training, and which its time has passed exactly 100 years from then on. The development course of recent century of Chinese modern Geological Education embodies the process of the gradual improvement on the institutionalization. The evolution of the system is a sign of maturity of the education laws, regulations and institutional construction.Chinese modern Geological Science and Geological Education are synchronous on emergence and development. According to relevant information, based on the history of Chinese modern Geological Education is divided into three stages:①The exploration stage of educational institutionalization( 1909 ~ 1917); ② The forming stage of education institutionalization(1917~1937); ③The adjustment of education system during the war(1937~1949).Education itself is a social behavior, and as an educational category in the field of natural science, the generation of Geological Education is closely related to social needs. As the social development of modern China experienced too many setbacks, since the Opium War, the change of social structure of China made the emergence of modern geology and geological education have their own characteristics.This article summarized as the following:①The catalytic effect of thought of Western Learning Spreading to the East and Westernization Movement;②The so-called “New Deal” at the late Qing Dynasty expedited the emergence of the modern education system; ③The investigation and the geological tour were made by the foreigners in China in nineteenth Century, which has promoted cognition and understanding of the Geological Sciences for Chinese modern society.Review of the extraordinary distance of the Chinese geological educational institutionalization in the recent century, analyze and sum up the gain and loss of this recent century history, and there is no doubt that all of them will give some reference and enlightenment to the contemporary Chinese Geology Education and its development. This article will describe from four aspects as following: the generation of modern science has been killed by the feudal social system, modern Chinese Geology Education will facing from social system ’s restriction, social economic development is a hotbed of growth of Geology Education, social cultural development promote geology education,all of which is necessary to comparison and reference in order toobtain beneficial enlightenment for Chinese Geology Education and to promote the vigorous development of the Chinese Geology Education Cause in the future.Through the analysis of the evolution of the Chinese modern geological education on institutionalization, this paper considers that four points of revelation can serve as reference for further development of Geology Education in China:First, the whole society should vigorously advocate for the advanced culture, which can have the function of leading and promoting to the Geology Education development; Second, guard securely the social function of Geology Education, eliminate the interference, insist on the faith and aim of servicing for social economic development; Third, adhere to the development trend of the globalization of knowledge economy to provide the support and scientific guidance, from the development process of large country in geology to a powerful country in geology, for the cause of Geology Education in our country; Fourth, draw a lessons from experience, and strive to maintain the stability, science nature and durability of the environment of the development of Geology Education.
