Along with the continuous development between China and Thailand, the economic relations between the two countries are also getting close increasingly. Nowadays, a large number of Chinese talents are needed in Thailand, such as guides, teachers and translators. Available Chinese talents are not enough, a large talent gap need to be plugged. Currently, there are more than 700 thousands of people who want to study Chinese. Chinese has become the second popular language among Thai students. For most of them, Chinese has become the second foreign language.In recent years, more and more studies research on Teaching Chinese for Thai students. Not only the macro introduction, those research focusing on specific schools or courses is also getting more. Author investigated the situation of Chinese optional courses and professional courses, then make a comparison and analysis of those two kinds of courses to figure out differences between them. Some methods of teaching on phonetic, words, grammar and character are also put forward.This paper is composed of four chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction of study’s background which is divided into four parts. To start with the situation of Chinese teaching in authors’ school, the first part is an introduction on teaching Chinese in Thailand and topic’s origin. The second part collect relevant materials and carry on the document discussion. The third part has an introduction on the course setting of optional course and professional courses. Thoughts and methods of studying are introduced in the last part.Chapter 2 is analysis on current situation and problems. Existing problems are put forward after investigating course setting, objective, class type, class hour, students, teachers and textbooks etc.Chapter 3 describes the research on teaching. After comparing two kinds of courses’ teaching from four 4 aspects of phonetics, words, grammars and characters, some targeted suggestion is given. For example, in optional courses, weakening grammar teaching, teaching spoken Chinese and characters separately;in professional courses, focusing on usage in grammar teaching, combining words teaching and grammar teaching etc.Chapter 4 is conclusion. In this chapter, the paper is summarized and prospected, and also point out the limitations of research.
