With the gradually established for Chinese socialist market economic system and the reform for human resources system, the employment system of higher graduates have been completed transform from the distribution of national unity to the self employment system, thence, to build the employment mechanism for "market-oriented, government regulation, college recommendation and two-way choice for employers and employee ". That will have great effect on the employment of college graduates, as the same time, large scale expansion of colleges and universities also bring great pressure for graduates. The difficult employment of college students has been rising, it has already caused widespread concern of the government and the society. Under the background of urban areas, the employment for graduates didn’t cause enough attention by the academic circles, only few urban areas did the research for graduates who have rural background, but the relationship between rural background, the intention for employment of college graduates and result for employment graduates still didn’t have any related research. Therefore, it has significance and practical value to study the relationship between rural background, the intention for employment of college graduates and result for employment graduates.In this research, use 2914 fresh graduates as research object, under the guidance of the labor market segmentation theory and the occupation position theory, use independent sample T test and regression analysis and other methods of data analysis, use the statistical software SPSS 17.0 to evaluate survey results, by studying the relationship between rural background, the intention for employment of college graduates and result for employment graduates, come to the conclusion as follows:1. Urban and rural background is an important factor which influences the employment intention of university graduates. Among four dimensions representing employment intention, urban university graduates pay more attention to material motivation dimension and regional orientation dimension in the employment than rural university graduates. However, rural university graduates pay more attention to organization environment dimension and jobdevelopment dimension in the employment than urban university graduates.2. Urban and rural background is an important factor which influences the employment result of university graduates. More urban university graduates are expected to be employed or to take part in postgraduate entrance exams. More rural university graduates have been employed already and unemployed. Urban university graduates are more likely to choose to work in areas of prefecture-level cities and above. However, rural university graduates are more likely to choose to work in villages or county-level cities. Urban university graduates are more likely to choose the tertiary industry and rural university graduates are more likely to choose the secondary industry. Urban university graduates have higher degree of satisfaction on employment income and employment than rural university graduates. Urban and rural background has no significant influence on the nature of employment unit of this year’s graduates.3. The difference of urban and rural background in employment intention has significant influence on employment result. Urban and rural background has a direct influence on the employment area, income and satisfaction of university graduates. It also has an indirect influence on the employment result of university graduates through employment intention of them. Compared with rural university graduates, urban university graduates pay more attention to regional orientation and material motivation in employment intention. Those who pay attention to regional orientation and material motivation are more likely to choose to work in prefecture-level cities and above. Their employment income and satisfaction are relatively higher. Urban and rural background has an indirect influence on the graduation direction and employment industry of this year’s graduates. It influences the graduation direction and employment industry selection of university graduates through employment intention. Compared with rural university graduates, urban university graduates pay more attention to regional orientation and material motivation in employment intention. Such graduates are more likely to be employed or to seek further study. And they are more likely to choose the tertiary industry.Based on the abovementioned research conclusions, this paper puts forward the following policy suggestions:1. Carry out difference comparison employment policy according to the difference between urban and rural background of employment intention; 2. Carry out difference comparison employment guidance according to the difference between urban and rural background of employment intention; 3. Pay attention to the transformation of employment intention to promote the employment of university graduates.
