Teacher professional development has become a hot topic of teacher education at home and abroad, and can’t do without the improvement of teacher professional quality and ability. Teaching research ability is one of the essential abilities of middle school physics teachers. The analysis of the structure and influence factors of teaching research ability of middle school physics teachers can provide theoretical and factual basis for the improvement of middle school physics teachers’ teaching ability, and promote teacher professional development.Based on the theory of teacher professional development, and requirements of middle school physics teachers’ quality and ability by the new curriculum reformation, we constructed the structural elements of middle schoo l physics teachers’ teaching research ability by the analysis of the current situation of middle school physics teachers’ teaching research. Besides, we conducted investigations on the key structural elements and intrinsic and extrinsic influence factors of physics teachers’ teaching research ability, based on which, we put forward the development strategy of physics teachers’ teaching research ability.This study enriched the concept of teachers’ ability, which can provide theoretical evidence for the future study of middle school teachers’ ability. Furthermore, it has great significance for the fostering and training of middle school teachers, especially science teachers, as well as the promotion of teacher professional development.
