James Yen and Freire are world renowned great educators, who active advocates and practitioners of the theory and practice of adult education of the world, they contribute their lives to their own native education, have made outstanding contribution to the progress and development of many third world countries education. James Yen and Freire through their own practice of adult education carry out great influences in the world, the direct impetus to the prosperity of the twentieth Century international adult education, and influenced generations of adult education workers. Their education ideology were praised by later generations, and so far as everyone are widely respected, although time has been long, Yen’s and Freire’s education ideology are still flashing enduring charm and display distinctive practical value to people. Study on the comparison of Yen’s and Freire’s adult education ideology, for the current adult education in our country carried out smoothly and push forward the building of the harmonious socialist society in China steadily, will have a very important inspiration and reference value, not only make us fully understand the development history of human education both at home and abroad, holding quasi context of adult education, but also make us learn the valuable experiences from the history of adult education in practice, so as to obtain useful experiences enlightenment.This study collected and sorted out Yen’s and Freire’s adult education ideology of relevant research literature and related monographs, and targeted combed and sorted out the core thoughts of adult education of the two parts. Use the method of historical research,to in-depth analysis of the adult education ideology theory origin of the establishment, and make full use of the adult education ideology of James Yen and Freire conducted a comprehensive comparison study method, obtain the adult education thoughts of James Yen and Freire similarities and differences, and emphatically discusses the realistic enlightenment thought of adult education which James Yen and Freire carry out the current adult education in our country.This research is mainly on the following aspects of the text:The first,mainly from the reasons of selecting the topic, the domestic and foreign research present situation, research significance, research ideas, research methods and several aspects, than discussed and explained. The second, mainly expounds the theoretical origin and practical source of Yen’s and Freire’s adult education ideology.The Third, In-depth exploring the essence of James Yen’s and Freire’s ideology of adult education in part. Discusses Yen’s adult education ideology of "rural education ideology ", "four kinds of education", and "to be persons" and "being persons",and also expatiates the core content adult education ideology of "dialogue education" and "humane education" of Freire.The fourth, comparing Yen’s and Freire’s adult education ideology, summed up the ideology of adult education between James Yen and Freire of the similarities and differences. The fifth,mainly reveals the focus of Yen’s and Freire’s adult education ideology, which significance for our country current adult education work and the construction of the socialist harmonious society.Stones from other hills may serve to polish jade.
