Paulo Freire(1921-1997),the famous Brazilian educator, reputed as one of the most influential educators in the second half of the 20th century, is also a typical representative of"The Oppressed Pedagogy"trend of thought. For many years, his thought of education not only has affected the development of the educational theory and practice in the third world countries, but also exerted tremendous influence on the developed countries including the United States. For this reason,"he has become legendary in his era."Aiming at the domesticating education, which was used by the oppressors to train the oppressed to adapt the reality, Freire put forward his famous ideology of liberating education. This ideology not only provides enlightenment for the oppressed in the subordinate positions in the world, but also supplies us a firmly theoretical means to criticize and reflect the educational theory and practice nowadays in China. This paper analyzes the thought of the teachers on the basis of Freire's liberation education, with a view to drawing lessons for the current reform concerning teacher education.This paper is divided into seven parts. Introduction part presents the origins and significance of research situation at home and abroad and the research methods adopted. The first chapter is Freire's life and educational background. It selects the experience having some major impacts on Friere's ideology of teachers from his childhood, study time and educational practice to recall his early personal history. Chapter two is the essential quality of teacher. It introduces modest, love, courage, tolerance, decisiveness and patience which are possessed by the progressive teachers. Chapter three focuses on the knowledge and curriculum concept of the teachers. Chapter four is teacher's view on the teaching method. It mainly discusses about the dialogue, responsibility for the guidance of teachers, and aesthetic teaching practice. Chapter five is the ultimate purpose of teaching. It introduces the origin of the critical consciousness, meaning, the role of teachers, and how to train students of critical consciousness. Chapter six is evaluation and enlightenment. Through the analysis of the characteristics and other scholars'evaluation, this paper clarifies the inspiration to current reform of teacher education.
