“The National Outline for Medium-and Long-Term Educational Reform and Development(2010-2020)” required an advocation of rational diet; an improvement of students’ nutritive condition; and an improvement of the rural students’ nutritional level in poverty-stricken areas. Then, the state council launched the nutrition improvement plan for students of rural primary and secondary school which has been benefited 26 million students. In this process, the construction of boarding schools in rural areas fully demonstrated the plateau-like effect of concentrated intervention for poverty students’ nutrition and improvement of their nutritional status and physical quality. But it still has some questions remained to be answered whether the implementation situation of the plan has reached its origin expectation; what are the problems remained to be solved? Through the sampling survey of eight counties from six provinces which are the national or local pilot of the rural boarding school nutrition improvement plan, this article researched the implementation and existing problems of this plan. The survey found that the sample counties have all put this plan into practice in an active way in the aspect of policy measures; feeding patterns and food supply and have received certain achievements. But the implementation of the current rural boarding school nutrition improvement plan still has a series of problems:(1)Hardware construction: There are some loopholes in the equipment of dining hall,and the level of standardization need to be enhanced.(2)Personnel allocation: The canteen staff faced the problem of shortage; low quality; and lack of training opportunities.(3)Operation management: Abound of the lack of specification and the non-institutionalized management.(4)Nutritional supplements: Feeding times are lessand nutritional balance is poor.(5)Cost of meals: The shift of the meal cost weight the economic burden of poor family. Based on this situation, this study put forward the corresponding countermeasures and Suggestions from three aspects of national,regional and school.
