Career barriers are either internal(e.g.,self-concept,motivation to achieve) or external frustrations(e.g.,sex discrimination,social stereotype) which may interfere with one’s career development. Influenced by the social congnitive career theory,career barriers are replaced by perceived career barriers.Perceived career barriers are the barriers which people think may interfere their career development now or in the future and are no need to base on the truth. Perceived career barriers usually affect one’s career choice process.Whatever occupation one take,he must incounter with career barriers.Teacher is a kind of high professionalization occupation,the career development of normal school students is related to the whole teacher occupation’s development, therefore, understanding the barriers that interfere normal school students is important in derermining the factors that may influence the implementaion of a student’s career development.The primary purpose of the present study is to construct a psychometrically sound instrument for the assessment of career related barriers perceived by normal school students. This study is based on the methods of literature review and open questionare survey and construct the vision model of normal schools students’ perceived career barriers,including eight dimensionalities:background discrimination,lack of education,lack of skills, student management problems,marriage and family interfere,hypobulia,employment competetion and teachering pressure. This study designs the normal School Students Perceived Teacher Career Barriers Scale based on the eight dimensionalities above.The research results are as follows:1. The factor analysis indicated that the normal School Students Perceived Teacher Career Barriers Scale includes eight dimensionalities:background discrimination, lack of education,lack of skills, student management problems,marriage and family interfere,hypobulia,employment competetion and teaching pressure.2. The normal School Students Perceived Teacher Career Barriers Scale in this study was an instrument with good reliability and validity.3. The degree of normal school students’ perceived teacher career barriers wasnot high.The main obstacles they perceived was lack of education.4. The freshmen perceived least career obstacles.The obstacle sophomore perceived raise up rapidly and the junior kept an equal pace with them.Until forth year normal school students’ perceived career barriers began to fall.5. There was no significant gender difference were gound in normal school students’ perceived teacher career barriers.6. Significant differences of perceived teacher career barriers were found in the aspect of the normal school students’ type.The free-charge normal school students perceived less career barriers.7. Significant differences of perceived teacher career barriers were found in the aspect of the normal schools’ type.The emphasis school of department of education students perceived less career barriers.
