Perceived career barrier is the prediction of the probability of obstacles that an individual will face during the course of looking for a job or during their work. Based on previous literature, this research has explored the dimensionality, composition and structure of the perceived career barriers by using various methods. It discussed the characteristic and influence factor of Chinese undergraduate's perceived career barriers. Through individual interview, investigations of open-ended questionnaire and half open-ended questionnaire, the model of undergraduate's perceived career barriers is proposed based on the existing theories. Through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis of the data collected from two questionnaire surveys, the structure of the Perceived Career Barriers Inventory was constructed and the formal inventory was developed. Then it was used as a measure to explore Chinese undergraduate's characteristic and influence factors of perceived career barriers. The study shows:1 Perceived career barriers, a structure including many components ,could bedivided into two dimensions——perceived career barriers when looking for a job andperceived career barriers when working. The former included six factors: vocational knowledge, competition on employment, social ability, family background, professional level. The later included six factors too: the condition of work, experience, working attitude, personality, interpersonal relationships, and family.2 The Perceived Career Barriers Inventory for Chinese undergraduates in this study is an instrument with good reliability and validity.
