Career maturity is the extent to which individual is ready for achieving career development tasks appropriate to his or her age. The secondary school students are on the stage to know and explore themselves, which is a important stage in their self-identity development and also is a important stage in their career maturity development. Nowadays, comparing with the students in university and vocational school, the career education of the secondary school students is not put on focus. But it is very important to carry out the researches about career education for the secondary school students. It is not only helpful to know the conditions of secondary school students’ career maturity development, develop their career education better and promote their career maturity develop better, but also is necessary for the development of vocational psychology during our new time of China.This study uses Ego Identity State Standard Questionnaire revised by Wang shu qing and Career Maturity Inventory developed by Liu hui, measuring 529 secondary school students to explore the relationship between self-identity and career maturity.The research shows that:(1) The secondary school students’ career maturity is in a middle level.(2) The dimensions of the secondary school students’ self-identity have significant differences in terms of gender, whether serve as a student leader, types of school, grades, study achievements, whether take part in the student community or student union, parents’ education levels. The difference of the secondary school students’ self-identity is not significant in whether as a single child, parents’ marital status.(3) The dimensions of the secondary school students’ career maturity have significant differences in terms of gender, whether serve as a student leader, types of school, grades, study achievements, parents’ education levels. The difference of the secondary school students’ career maturity is not significant in whether as a single child, parents’ marital status, whether take part in the student community or student union.(4) The secondary school students’ self-identity diffusion and career maturity exist significant negative correlation. The self-identity foreclosure and career maturity and career decision-making attitude exist significant negative correlation. The self-identity moratorium and career maturity exist significant negative correlation. The self-identity achieved and career maturity exist significant positive correlation.(5) The secondary school students’ self-identity can be used to predict every dimension score of career maturity. The perceived self-identity can explain 42.2% of the variance of the career maturity. The self-identity achieved can explain 25.4% of the variance of the career maturity lonely. Therefore, the secondary school students’ self-identity is predictor to career maturity.
