For vocational college students, three years of college life is a critical periodduring which careenages to set and develop ego-identity, of which career identity is acore issue concerned by people. Ego-identity is an individual’s subjective feeling andexperience for his identity and continuity in the past, at the present and in the future.And it’s also other important people’s perception with the individual’s identity andcontinuity. There is no doubt that the development of ego-identity will exert asignificant influence on career maturity, which is the capacity for making a choice inrelevant period of career development. The career maturity is an important evaluationcriterion for an individual’s phycological development of career, including twodimensions: emotion and cognition. This research conducted a survey and aninterview to some vocational college students in Jiangxi Province, in the aim ofexploring the current level of their ego-identity and the development of their careermaturity.(1) The overall distribution of vocational college students’ ego-identity areunevenly distributed: students who fall into the group of identity diffusion are of themost, while the ones in the group of identity achievement the least; there areremarkable differences in past crises, present ego-involvement and futureego-involvement; significant distinctions of part-time experience can be seen inpresent ego-involvement; there are also notable distinctions in present and futureego-involvement as to their decision on whether getting involved with club activitiesor not; the economic status of one’s family is prominently distinct in the dimension ofpast crisis.(2)Among the dimensions of their career maturity, the average score of careervalue is the highest, while that of career goal is the lowest; distinctions are slight ingender and experience in club activity; students in different grades show cleardistinctions in overall scores, career autonomy and career reference dimensions; thereare remarkable major distinctions in career reference, rural-urban distinctions incareer value, part-time experience distinctions in overall and career reference; notabledistinctions are shown in overall, career goal and career autonomy with different educational levels of their mother; prominent distinctions can be seen in overall,career value and career confidence with different economic situation.(3) The results of correlation analysis in dimensions of ego-identity and careermaturity indicated that career goal, career autonomy and the desires ofego-involvement both in the present and future are positively correlated; so are therelationship between career confidence and future ego-involvement; career maturitytogether with career reference are positively correlated with three dimensions ofego-identity; the correlation between career value and ego-involvement both in thepresent and future is the same; yet relatives dependence is not notably correlated tothe three dimensions of ego-involvement.(4)The variance analysis on career maturity of vocational college students insix kinds of ego-identity indicated that there are remarkable distinctions in careervalue among students in different ego-identity; extremely prominent distinctions canbe seen in total scores, career autonomy and career reference dimensions. Furthermultiple comparisons suggest that the status between identity diffusion and positivedelay along with the status of identity diffusion are scored notably lower than otherfour kinds of statuses in total scores, career value, career autonomy and careerreference dimensions.(5)The regression analysis on career maturity through dimensions of ego-identityindicated that past crisis and the desire of future ego-involvement positively predictcareer maturity; the desire of future ego-involvement positively predict career goaland career confidence; past crises positively predict career value; the desire of presentego-involvement and that of future ego-involvement positively predict careerautonomy; past crises, the desires of ego-involvement both in the present and futurepositively predict career reference.
