Ceramic art is a kind of ancient art form. Its appearance originated from over 8 thousand years ago, and its maturation period was from the late Eastern Han Dynasty, making China the earliest nation that invented ceramics. But in contemporary China, it is a new topic of bringing ceramic art into class, which often occurs in developed and well-educated countries. In fact, ceramic art education is really worthwhile as it can develop students’ intelligence and individuality, explore students’ talent, improve their aesthetic judgment and practical and innovation ability, enrich their imagination, and open up a broader road for their self-realization.In accordance with the theories of cultural inheritance and multiple intelligence, this paper probes into the ceramic art education in primary school, based on its art origins and characteristics. Through adopting some research methods, including document analysis method, statistic analysis method and case analysis method, and pursuing the combination of ceramic art elements and some fields of learning, such as "Mold-making & Representation", "Design & Application", "Appreciation & Criticism", and "Integration & Exploration", it makes a study on how to apply ceramic art into primary school education and puts emphasis on illustrating the theoretical basis of its implementation strategy and its practical implementation cases. After exactly understanding the primary school education, the author exquisitely analyzes and studies the realistic conditions and the value of bringing ceramic art into arts teaching of primary school, refers to some implementation strategies of art teaching and focuses on the unique value of bringing ceramic art into primary school towards the development of students’ personalities. Basically, the paper emphasizes on two points:firstly, the equality of aesthetic and practicability; secondly, the combination of arts and culture.The main part of this paper is divided into five parts, including three chapters, altogether with Introduction and Conclusion. The part of Introduction mainly analyzes the conditions, problems of ceramic art education, and some related researches on ceramic art education in primary school. The first chapter mainly probes into the significance of ceramic art in developing students’ personalities and some requirements of it through studying art education theory and cultural inheritance. The second chapter pays emphasis on analyzing the course and characteristics of China’s ceramic art in order to find its practicability of arts teaching primary school. According to some specific conditions, the third chapter selects some teaching contents in appropriate to modern life, analyzes its teaching practice by adopting some proper ways and methods, and summarizes its achievements and shortcomings. And the part of Conclusion mainly talks about the expectations on ceramic art education in primary school.
