In the modern teaching, there is no doubt that English is very important subject, especially for elementary school pupils who are the most critical period of learning a language. English learning in the primary school benefits them to master and use English better, which will lay the solid foundation in the future. Considering the Instrumental and humanism of English, life of English teaching in the primary school will be a trend. That is to say, primary English teachers in the teaching process not only focus on the instrumental, but also should attach importance to humanity. However, English life teaching in the primary school is to make students master basic English knowledge and skills, it also requires teachers to pay more attention to students’ inner experience in the process of their learning English and more attention to student’s life care, cultivating their enthusiasm and confidence in learning English.The first part of the paper is given the clear definition of life education, teaching of life and life of primary English teaching through a comprehensive and in-depth study of literature collection, sorting, generalization, which benefits the readers a comprehensive understanding of the life of primary English teaching. In addition, the author also provides the theoretical basis of life from three points:they are the origins of life as the basis of life philosophy, subject education theory and humanistic psychology as the guiding ideology, and the theory of dialogue and functional teaching method. The second part of the thesis firstly concludes three problems of lacking of life care from three aspects existing in current English teaching in the primary school, the three problems are that children’nature is bound to the realistic teaching, mechanical English teaching and lack of communication between teachers and students. And then this part analyses the reasons from relevant theories and the realistic teaching. The third part of the paper is provided the requirements of life teaching on the five goals of the primary English according to the compulsory education English curriculum standards (2011 edition). The five goals are language knowledge which reflects the linguistic life between teachers and students, language skills requiring life teaching, emotional attitude requiring the cultivation of students’ patriotic emotion and international view, learning strategies requiring the ability in English thinking way. The fourth part of the thesis, the author puts forward the concrete strategies about life of English teaching in the primary school, including the teaching goal of reflecting the life meaning, teaching process focusing on life experience, teaching strategy of reflecting life vitality and teaching evaluation of reflecting individual character.
