Concept maps originated with the research of Cognitive Psychology. It is an important tool to organize, represent, and share knowledge. Building a concept map involves creating text-based nodes and specifying their relationships with line-based links. Node means a concept and link means the relationship between certain nodes. Current concept map tolls usually impose specific task structures for node and link construction, which means must specify the kind of concept maps before the end the text. By this way, it may increase users’cognitive burden to generate and interact with concept maps. And also this manner will limit users’thinking and the flexible of the concept map tool. Similarly, it is difficult to modify the built concept map. Furthermore, while some pen-based devices offer users more freedom in drawing concept maps with a pen or stylus more naturally, the support for hand-drawn concept map creation and manipulation is still limited. Lastly, currently concept maps tool have different emphasis, specifically for education, there is no enough concept map.To solve the problem mentioned above, this article design and implement a concept tool which is auto generated based on pen gesture. The concept map tool takes the starC teaching platform as a support platform, and from the need of teachers’, realizes the basic functions of itself. The following are the characteristics of the concept map:1. Allow users input text firstly, and then determine the types of concept maps. This point is the innovation of this paper. Users can draw or write the content, and recognize the content to certain concept map according their own need.2. Support intelligent structure operation to concept maps. Users can execute operation to the concept map, include single node, multiple nodes and the concept map.3. Support gesture operation. In order to enhance the usability and experience, we design a few gesture for the concept tool specially. They are called’fold’,’unfold’, ’delete’,’recover’,’copy’,’cut’ and’ paste’.4. Support touch and mouse interaction. The concept map tool can work with touch and mouse, which provide more choice for users.By introducing the basic knowledge of concept map, and on the analysis and reference of current concept tool, we apply it into the classroom. Design algorithms of distract and operation to the concept. Implement basic operation for online concept map. In the end, detect the recognition rate and accuracy by the experiment.
