During the Republic of China, the education experimentation area in Kaifeng carried out primary educational experiments. From 1932 to 1938,the experiment area experienced a lot of difficulties, such as, the war, few education funds and so on.Although, it insisted on conducting experimental projects firmly, which included the teaching methods of Lian Fang and the experiment of double methods. With the experimental activities obtained positive results, it aroused public concerns gradually. This study is based on the original material, which derived from the work reports of Government, journals and newspapers. Firstly, we will find out the basic situation of this experimentation area, and then, analyze the experiment to get enlightenment and experience, which can provide a reference for the current comprehensive reform of education experimentation area.This study takes the education experimentation area in Kaifeng as its object and consists of four parts. The first one inspects the background and history of the education experimentation area. The background of setting up the education experimentation area includes the trend of the National educational experiments, the support from Henan educational Department, educators’promotion. The history of development was divided into initial stage, the turning point, the promotion period, and the decline. The five stages can provide historical clues on the study of experimentation area. The second part clarifies the organizations and regulations of education experimentation area in Kaifeng, which includes the basic framework of the organization, the establishment of Regulations; the working of departments. The third part explores the educational activities including experimental programs and the process of experimental activities. The former includes the preparation, curriculum, textbooks, and teaching methods and so on. The latter is based on phases, namely literate, from literate to start reading, free reading. The fourth part analyzes and evaluates education experimentation area in Kaifeng. This part summarizes experimental characteristics and the experimental results firstly, and then evaluates the impact and deficiency of the educational experimentation. What is the proper? What is the economy? How effectively? These three issues are the themes that education experimentation area had been exploring, which may provide the enlightenment for the current comprehensive reform of education experimentation area.
