The development of The Times calls for us to understand the world, to understand others, learn to cognitive, learn to understand. However, in real life, Psychological barriers still exist in the people who get the correct understanding about the world. They simply consist that the world is either black or white and deny the positive factors in others’behavior while idealizing the behavior of themselves. Because of Chinese possessing rich humanistic feature, we can effectively deliver the concept of international understanding by means of the language education. Based on the the previous literature, The author determines the analytical framework of this paper, and chooses the Chinese Textbook which is published by People’s Education Press in 2001 as the research object with the purpose of analyzing and counting the International Understanding Education content.This paper is mainly divided into four parts. The introduction part mainly expounds the research origin, literature review and the research purpose、significance and methods. The reason of selecting the topic is introduced from three aspects, which is the basic education reform and development, the development of The Times and the humanity of chinese. Firstly, Foreign literature review presents the research done on the materials from the perspective of international understanding. Secondly, the domestic literature review describes the research on Chinese teaching materials and Education for International Understanding in textbooks. The second part defines the related concepts, which are Teaching material、international understanding and international understanding education. At the same time, Analyse the differences and connections between International Understanding Education and Multicultural Education. And There is a introduction of the international understanding education goals、content、methods and principles. The third part presents and analyses the study results. At first, the foreign literary works is mainly analyzed from two aspects which are the the number of literary works and the regional distribution of foreign authors. Then, there is a presentaion and analysis of the international understanding education content theme from two aspects of international culture and international issues. In addition, the author analyzes the international understanding education content involved in the supporting content.Based on these studies, in the fourth part,the author draws conclusions and make recommendations for the improvement. In terms of the content of education for international understanding, there is both advantages and shortcomings.The Chinese textbooks for elementary school has the following advantages:The content is rich and colorful and the theme is distributed widely; The distribution of The Times is reasonable, and focus on the modern and contemporary culture; the supporting content is beneficial to international understanding. However, there are also disadvantages:highlights the developed culture, pay less attention to the culture of developing countries; the ancient literary works abroad is less,which has bad impact on international culture understanding; present more common culture of the human, and lack the attention to cultural differences. Taking the problems into consideration, the author puts forward three suggestions:expand the regional selection, pay attention to the ancient classical literature, highlight the cultural differences.
