English, as an international language, behaves its importance in all areas of economic and cultural exchanges. But the traditional thinking and oriented education show obvious deficiencies and hazards in English education of middle school. A lot of students exhibit increasingly psychological problems about learning English, which becomes the major obstacle for improving teaching of English, and attracts wide attention. However, the majority of teachers does not understand and study psychology clearly about this issue. Therefore, this thesis introduces the basic learning psychological problems of middle school students, summarizes theoretic meaning of the self-determination theory and the goal content effect, as well as the guidance to practice, and analyzes theoretical basis of emotional education to help students for correcting learning attitude. Based on the understandings, we study the English learning attitude and anxiety of Yuwotou school students in Panyu, Guangzhou.Yuwotou School is surrounded in industrial and mining enterprises, the rural social and economic environment is experiencing unprecedented growth and change, which brought about not only a rapid increase in the income of local residents, while introducing various trends impact on people’s concepts of education and learning. English learning attitude and psychological problems have been inevitably affected by the social environment and ideas. Economic development helps to improve English teaching facilities and teacher teem, but the learning motivation as the external target is still insufficient in the rural high school students. They do not get much happiness and satisfaction from learning English. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the fundamental attitudes of students learning English, and make raising level of English learning become their Autonomous motivation by some psychological works. We do these to make the internal target of English learning to meet the psychological mechanism of underlying psychological needs.Questionnaire study indicated that learning emotion is the most important factor impacting English learning attitude of Yuwotou school students. The English learning attitude has significant gender differences, girls are better than boys in English learning attitude. Test scores have a positive correlation with learning attitude. The anxiety of learning English is reflected by the factors of classroom speech, self-confidence, restlessness, learning attitude, relaxed feeling, oral communication, and fear. It shows as tense and unconfident speech and answer questions in the classroom, and concern on test scores. The anxiety was no significant gender differences, but significant positive correlation with performance ranking.Emotional education makes more students become internal orientation individuals. They learn English enjoyably to meet the basic psychological needs, and actively choose and easily experience sense of achievement. The positive attitude towards learning is more durable, the level of anxiety is lower. The Emotional education is implemented in teaching practice, and gradually shown improvement to English learning attitude and anxiety of high school students.
