People have given priority to difficulties of children of single parent families. However, the number of studies about interpersonal problems, that children of single parent families faced, is minimal. And researches from specialized field of social work are fewer. From the perspective of empowerment, this paper analyses the basic manifestation of interpersonal problems. First, children of single parent families hold the low self-consciousness and passive communication attitudes. Second, they are not good at emotional management. Third, they show social ineptitude. In addition, it explores the main reasons of interpersonal problems, including lack of competence and powerlessness, which affected by families, companions and communities. This study takes the project named ‘Cheer and Warm Plan’ as an example. Combined with two different modes of empowerment, it intervenes clients with interpersonal dilemma by taking advantage of methods of group work as well as case work. The goals are to assist children of single parent families with excavating their potential and reducing their powerlessness, helping get out of troubles of interpersonal interaction. At the end of the paper, it summarizes the shortcomings of the project and offers proposals for solving interpersonal problems of children of single parent families. |
