Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party and government have put forward a series of documents, making a higher requirement on the function performed by the construction of college campus culture, educational and student management in the improvement of college students’ overall quality and the cultivation of successors of the socialist cause. The society, driven by the demand of market also has a different expectation on higher vocational students’ skills and qualities. Meanwhile, higher vocational students, mostly being post-90s, possess new characteristics and hold diverse values and beliefs. These newly emerging features are challenging the existing pattern of student management that is single and separated from the construction of campus culture and unable to fulfill the new demands from society and students themselves. Therefore, it is an urgent issue to create a new student management model that meets both the need of students and the times as well as merges with the campus culture. Presently, the out-of-dated and simple construction of campus culture and student management have unfavorably affected the building and development at vocational college; besides, the freshmen are eager to develop themselves in comprehensive and individual way, which is under negative process due to the two factors. This paper, exemplified by Guangzhou Sontan Polytechnic College and based on the theories of human ecology, culture ecology and all-around development of human beings, investigates into the present situation of the construction of campus culture and practice of student management, analyzes the existing problems and the corresponding causes, and works out a new student management model that combines the construction of campus culture with student management work and enable them to have a positive influence on each other. Thus, a new approach to achieve the sustainable development of higher vocational colleges and further the long-term mechanism that helps explore the growth road of higher vocational colleges can be found out, and the requirement of the government and the need from our society and students can also be satisfied.
