Group Work To Improve The Vulnerable Children’ Social Support Network Research

In recent years, with the Journalist exposure a series of Infringements of the vulnerable children’ rights and interests, causing people’s attention on the special group of the the vulnerable children. At present, China has a great of children suffering the poverty, lack of care, family violence, improper education, the influence, met the plight of survival difficulties, care difficulties and barriers to growth. Their living situation is worrisome. In order to strengthen the protect and support to the vulnerable children, in 2013 the Ministry of Civil Affairs carried out pilot exploration work for juvenile social protection in 20 regions of the country, and Guilin is one of the 20 pilot exploration regions. During my internship at Social Work Service Stations of Guilin Yanshan District, I had the privilege of contacting in tthe vulnerable children’ social protection program of the service station, and based on this, the study was launched. This study takes the Social Work Service Stations of Guilin Yanshan District for example, Investigates 79 the vulnerable children which are the service object of the Social Work Service Stations of Guilin Yanshan District, and researchs and analyzes the social support network of these service objects by research method. Through the study found that the vulnerable children’ social support network of homogeneity is strong and weak heterogeneity, informal social support strength occupies the dominant, and low utilization of social support network. According to the characteristics of the the vulnerable children’ social support network, I take the social support theory as a guide, combined with the social work professional knowledges to design a scheme to construct and improve the social support network for the children. Based on the scheme, I evaluat and reflecte on the professional concepts, methods and techniques which were used in the process of the scheme, hoping to put forward some effective suggestions to the current plight of minors social protection practice work.
