In the 1980 s, Leadership Education has sprung up in the American colleges. With the improvement of women participation in today’s society, more and more women appeared in every fields of the work, some women even became the leaders. What’s more, many companies, which refuse women employees before, start to welcome female staff and are willing to accept them to be leaders. So there is an urgent demand for the women leaders who can adapt to the changeable society in the future. Thereby, as the foundation of women education, more and more women colleges started to carry out Leadership Education. Among them, the Leadership Education in Wellesley College has attracted public attention. Comparing with other schools, the Leadership Education in Wellesley College is a little different, it is carried out on the basis on the liberal arts education. And no matter home or abroad study, the study on the implementation of Leadership Education in women colleges is limited. Thus, in this article, the author will use the literature analysis, historical analysis and comparative method to analyze the background, the development, the teaching idea, the teaching goal, and especially the implement, and try to summarize the reason why it can be carried out and the characteristics during its development. The aim of this paper is trying to afford some new ideas for our women Leadership Education.This paper will be divided into six parts:The first part is introduction, mainly talks about the reason to choose this subject, and states the current studies about this subject both in China and aboard. As well as the content, the methods, the significance of this subject and some related definitions.In the second part, the author will state the background of the Leadership Education in Wellesley College, it is mainly due to the Second War has brought lots of women into work place, bringing the possibility of development of the Leadership Education; in addition, the social expect,the leader crisis, the push of the feminist movement, and together with the development of the school itself promote the birth of the Leadership Education.The third part mainly analyzes the teaching idea of the Leadership Education in Wellesley College. Through the analysis, the writer try to reveal the content of the Leadership Education, including gender consciousness education, communication education, analysis and problem-solving skills education, cooperation ability education and multiply culture education.In the fourth part, the implement of the Leadership Education will be stated, through the study, we can find that the school takes the classes, the practical activities and the model-direct as its main method to put the Leadership Education into use.The fifth part aims at to find out the reason why the Leadership Education in Wellesley College can be carried out.The last part is to compare Wellesley College with other universities, trying to find out its feature and the profound consideration of the Leadership Education.
