According to the college entrance examination of history in recent years, it is easy to realize that History Materials play an important part in the exams of multiple choice questions and material analysis questions. Besides, the denotation of the historical materials extends. But the most widely used part is the written historical materials. In this way, students need to learn to analyze the written materials, to acquire the steps and the related abilities. This paper will explain them according to Learning Methods.There are four parts in this paper, the classification and characteristic of written historical materials, the basic steps of analysis of written historical materials, the ability-orientation of written historical materials and how to analyze the written historical materials.The first part introduces the classification and characteristic of written historical materials. Different standards classify the written historical materials. Besides, it differs from the real objects, oral objects, pictures and charts.The second part introduces the basic steps of analysis of written historical materials. Firstly, information extraction. It divides into the information of specific problems and the information of materials. Secondly, outline summary. It includes the summary of effective information and the summary of explicit information and hidden information. Thirdly, information comparison. Compare the logical connection of the contents of historical materials, and compare the connection of the summary of historical materials and prior knowledge. Finally, it means to organize the words reasonably, propose the combination of history and arguments and hold the correct view of history.The third part is about the ability-orientation of written historical materials. First, the ability of understanding of reading, which includes the basic ability of reading and the awareness of information; Second, abstracting and generalizing ability; Third, the ability of transferring the knowledge, which depends on the prior knowledge and inductive and deductive ability. Finally, independent critical ability, which includes the historical identification ability, historical evaluation ability and historical elaboration ability.The fourth part explains how to analyze the written historical materials. It addresses the overall direction, the principle and direction that the written historical materials should follow. So it mainly includes from appearance to nature, from parts to whole, from approval to critical. By following these methods, we can understand the written historical materials completely.
